Riots during mass rush to disco

Although the nightclub would not have opened until midnight, there was already a mass rush in the evening. A dangerous crowd arose in front of the entrance and some visitors lost consciousness, the Salzburg police reported. Ten police officers had to intervene and let the club open early to defuse the situation.

People who had passed out were taken to safety by friends or bystanders. One injured person had to be treated by the Red Cross.

The ten police officers diverted most of the waiting visitors, who had also come from neighboring Bavaria, to a nearby parking lot. About half of the night owls could be admitted to the restaurant. Many had finally realized that there was no room for so many guests in the disco and had left again. By 9:30 p.m. the rush had subsided.

On Friday, the bars should have closed at midnight. But with Saturday there is no more curfew. Some clubs opened at 00:01 on Saturday night. Apparently, a particularly large number of guests from neighboring Bavaria wanted to use the new opening hours to visit a disco in Oberndorf.

March 5th brought Austria an end to most corona measures, almost everything is possible again, even if you are neither vaccinated, recovered nor tested. There are no visitor restrictions or a curfew. This allowed night-time gastronomy to open up again, and there are no longer any restrictions in tourism and gastronomy. Only in Vienna do you have to be vaccinated or have recovered in order to be able to visit bars.
