“It is a delirium, theater of the absurd, they call black what is white, and what is black, white”he said at a meeting with female Russian airline flight crews.
The president also stated that he will consider any attempt by other countries to declare a no-fly zone over Ukraine as involvement in the conflict.
“We are aware of the statements that it is necessary to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine. (…) Any step in this direction will be considered by us as participation in the armed conflict of a country from whose territory threats will be created for our military”he stated.
These statements respond to those made yesterday by the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, who lamented NATO’s “deliberate” decision not to establish a no-fly zone in Ukraine, adopted by the bloc’s foreign ministers at a meeting that the president considered “loose and confused”.
The Kremlin leader said today that “the destruction of the military infrastructure in Ukraine is almost complete” and repeated that the operation is taking place as planned by Moscow.
“The first thing we did was destroy the entire military infrastructure. Well, not all of it, partially, mainly weapons stores, ammunition, aviation, air defense systems (…) The destruction is almost complete”said the president of Russia.
According to the Russian leader, only professional soldiers and officers are involved in military operations in Ukraine, and the Kremlin does not plan to call up the contingent of reservists.
On the other hand, Putin indicated that he does not plan to decree martial law in Russia given the rumors that pointed to that effect.
“Martial law applies (…) in case of aggression especially in the regions where fighting took place. We do not have such a situation, and I hope it will not happen,” Putin said, when asked by Aeroflot employees, the most important airline in Russia that today announced that it will suspend its international flights due to the sanctions imposed by Western powers.
