Elon Musk Says His Starlink Satellite Broadband Won’t Block Russian Media

Russia’s state-controlled media has been at the center of criticism from Western countries, which accuse them of publishing “lies to justify” the war launched by President Vladimir Putin against Ukraine.

This week, the European Union banned broadcasting in the 27-state Russian media bloc RT and Sputnik, while US-based social media giants, including Twitter and Facebook parent Meta, took steps to block broadcast activity. those media.

Starlink was activated in Ukraine last week after that country’s deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, asked Musk for help following the Russian invasion.

After the order, Musk sent a large shipment of antennas, a measure that benefits both the country at war and Musk, since Ukraine is presented as a laboratory to test its business of providing the Internet in complex and/or difficult-to-access territories.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, several cities have been attacked and hundreds of soldiers and civilians have been killed. The West has stayed out of the attacks and chose the path of sanctions to put pressure on Russia.
