Number of Covid deaths in Austria over 15,000 threshold

28,463 cases of new infections have been registered since Saturday. This is below the 7-day average of 29,747. The seven-day incidence was 2,331.1 cases per 100,000 population. As of Sunday, there were 292,576 active cases, up 3,162 from the day before.

Deaths were counted daily on a seven-day average of 31.6. A total of 221 deaths related to corona infection have been registered in the past seven days. Since it broke out, the pandemic has claimed 15,008 lives in Austria. Since then, 168 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19.

Under 2,500 people in hospitals

According to the Ministry of Health and the Interior, there were 2,469 people in the hospital on Sunday, 78 fewer than the previous day. 191 people were cared for in intensive care units. That number has dropped by eleven since Saturday and has dropped by six patients in a week.

423,664 rapid PCR and antigen tests were registered within 24 hours, of which 352,191 were PCR tests. All in all, there are now 210,978,053 corona tests carried out. The positive rate for PCR was 8.1 percent, this 24-hour value was above the average for the past week with an average of six percent positive results.

6,243,161 people and thus 69.9 percent of the people in Austria have valid vaccination protection.
