Without restrictions: Party guests stormed discos

The first party weekend without corona restrictions: carefree partying on the dance floor, no FFP2 protective masks indoors and no curfew – “It will be a party weekend like before the Corona period,” said David Milwa, operator of the Musikpark A1 in Linz on Friday in the OÖN conversation.

In Salzburg, the falling corona restrictions triggered a mass rush of night owls in front of a discotheque in Oberndorf (Flachgau) on Friday evening. Hundreds of partygoers – including many from Bavaria – couldn’t wait to visit the nightclub again after months. According to the police, the party guests in the entrance area were so close together that several people who were waiting lost consciousness and had to be rescued from the crowd.

Nobody was injured in the onslaught. The situation only calmed down when the police and the owner opened the restaurant early. However, some party guests were turned away due to the lack of space. In other bars in the city of Salzburg, where long queues formed in front of the discotheques, the weekend passed without incident.

Aggressive night owls

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, police officers in Linz’s old town stopped an aggressive 16-year-old night owl. The young Bosnian, who lives in Linz, was heavily intoxicated and behaved increasingly provocatively when asked for proof of his identity. After the young man continued to behave aggressively despite numerous warnings, the police officers handcuffed and cuffed his feet. Meanwhile, he spat on the police officers and insulted them loudly.

A small amount of marijuana was found during the search. Due to his strong alcohol consumption and aggressiveness, the Bosnian could not yet be interrogated, the police department in Upper Austria announced yesterday.

Only in Vienna does the 2G rule still apply in the nightspots. But this regulation did not inhibit the party mood in the clubs in the federal capital last weekend. The partygoers waited up to 1.5 hours in the cold in front of the nightclubs until the doors to the clubs opened at midnight on Saturday. In Vienna, the police were also in action, because the mood among those waiting heated up more and more over the weekend. The Viennese professional rescue service recorded ten percent more operations in the night from Saturday to Sunday than on the previous weekend. (cape)
