A 60-year-old was lucky in misfortune on Monday around seven in the morning in the municipality of Edt near Lambach (Wels-Land district): The man was driving his car on the L537 when suddenly concrete parts of the railway bridge of the Lambach-Gmunden local railway line crashed his car. The driver was unharmed.
The dangerous situation was triggered by a truck driver. The 31-year-old had forgotten to retract the crane arm that was on his heavy vehicle. When he drove through the underpass with the car at the same time, the crane touched the bridge, concrete parts came loose.
The truck driver sustained injuries of unspecified degree. He was taken to the Wels Clinic, the police said on Monday afternoon. The Edt-Winkling volunteer fire brigade came to do the clean-up work. It was necessary to secure the scene of the accident and to tie up leaking resources. After around two and a half hours, Fischlhamerstraße was passable again without hindrance.
