Every day, harrowing images of devastated parts of the city, people fleeing in panic, desperate families and heavily armed soldiers from Ukraine go out into the world. In addition to all the suffering and the tragic reports that the war produces, there are also symbols of hope, images that give courage. Just like the pictures of a little girl that have been spreading like wildfire on the internet in the past few days.
You can see a young Ukrainian singing the song “Let It Go” from the Disney film “Frozen” (“The Ice Princess”) in an air raid shelter. While there is still chaotic chaos in the underground room at the beginning, those present fall silent as the girl begins to sing in Ukrainian, creating a special moment in the midst of a bloody war.

More than seven million people have already viewed the video, which is said to have been recorded in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. The clip was shared tens of thousands of times. Even Idina Menzel, the singer of the original Disney song “Let It Go,” picked up the video and wrote on Twitter: “We see you. We see you really, really.”
“Look Who You’re Fighting”
A certain Marta Smekhova wants to be the author of the video. She filmed the girl in the air-raid shelter with her parents’ consent, she writes on Facebook. The girl told her that she likes to sing and dreams of being heard by a large audience. Smekhova then pulled out her cell phone and filmed the touching scenes. “Amelia, your singing left no one indifferent,” she writes on Facebook and: “Look Russians who you’re fighting against!”
hundreds of thousands in need
Twelve days after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, hundreds of thousands of people are in need in the attacked cities. The planned rescue of civilians from embattled Ukrainian cities is still not progressing. Although agreement has been reached on humanitarian corridors, the ceasefire has apparently not been observed. In the larger cities, thousands are holed up in air-raid shelters these days and are holding out there. Others try to flee from the Russian bombs – Harrowing images also reach us from Irpin:
