Girlfriend abused, police detention room flooded

A 41-year-old man who is said to have abused his partner on Saturday in Lenzing (Vöcklabruck district) then vandalized the police station’s detention room. This was announced by the executive on Monday.

The officials were called to a dispute in Lenzing on Saturday evening. A 38-year-old woman said her boyfriend abused her in her home and threatened to kill her. The woman was able to flee to a neighbor. The victim was brought to the Salzkammergut Clinic in Vöcklabruck by ambulance.

The police went to the apartment in question. When the suspect opened the door, he immediately started swearing at the officers. When they wanted to question him about the incident, he became increasingly aggressive and attacked the police several times until they finally pulled out the pepper spray. The 41-year-old was taken to the detention room of the Lenzing police station. The Austrian slept there for several hours. When he woke up, he blocked the toilet drain with a blanket and toilet paper rolls and flushed it repeatedly until the detention room was partially flooded. He also smashed a couch bolted to a wall.

Entry and weapon ban

An entry and approach ban as well as a provisional ban on weapons were issued against the suspect. The 41-year-old, who was reported for bodily harm, dangerous threats, assault on an official, attempted resistance to state authority and property damage, was taken to Wels Prison.
