From Monday to Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and the Interior reported 30,939 new infections. The 45 deaths reported within 24 hours are particularly noteworthy. The numbers also increased significantly in the hospitals. There were 168 more patients in the hospitals than on Monday.
There are currently 2,760 people hospitalized for Covid-19. 195 patients have to be treated in intensive care. That number has remained the same since yesterday, but increased by four people in a week.
There have been forty-five deaths since Monday. 230 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 15,071 lives in Austria since it broke out. 168.7 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of Tuesday, there are 293,688 active cases in Austria, again 4,261 more than the day before. On Monday, only 3,677 vaccinations were carried out, 384 were first bites, fewer than since the start of the vaccination campaign in January 2021. 6,239,548 people or 69.9 percent of Austrians currently have valid vaccination protection.
