Job Week: Many companies ask for a blind date

Braunau, Mattighofen, Lengau, Weng, Altheim and Schalchen are the top six apprentice communities in the Braunau district. Training apprentices is one thing, apprentices find it far more complicated: almost 150 training places are currently available in the district immediately. Because companies are desperately looking for workers, almost 50 take the opportunity of the new “Job Week” from March 28th to April 2nd. People meet at the new “Job Week” where it is important: at the future workplace.

Job to go, please!

Lack of labor is the biggest challenge for companies. “A good economy is slowed down by the lack of staff, which has become the number one topic for companies, ahead of digitization and climate change,” says WK district chairman Klemens Steidl. However, not only apprentices are welcome at “Job Week”, adults who are looking for a new job can also gain a comprehensive insight into various professions at “Job Week”.

In order to get in touch with the potential worker, the companies have thought of a lot of creative things: “We have the job-to-go. People can have a kind of job interview with our HR manager, just without the time-consuming procedure beforehand.” , says Fabian Kainz, mechatronics apprentice at Promotech in Schalchen. Taster days, company tours and product innovations: “The Job Week is a great opportunity to get an insight into the company,” says Simon Fimberger, an electrical engineer in his third year of training at EAV in Moosdorf. Electrical engineer Manuel Berner, an apprentice at Raimund Beck KG in Mauerkirchen, will also answer young people’s questions authentically and at eye level. Registration (online) is required for visitors.

The number of apprentices has remained largely constant over the past seven years, as WK district manager Klaus Berer reports. At the end of 2021 there were almost 1,400 apprentices in the Braunau district: “After the corona shock on the apprenticeship market, more young people started an apprenticeship again.”

The number of employees also developed positively: there are currently 44,500 employees, which is around 8,000 more than ten years ago. The long-term unemployed also benefit from this development: “The number of these people is declining faster than average unemployment,” says Braunau’s AMS office manager, Walter Moser.
