The soaring fuel prices never end. In Traiskirchen, Lower Austria, for example, motorists are already reporting that diesel prices are around the 2.50 euro mark. Not on the freeways, in urban areas. See the screenshot.

Diesel ran out at gas station in Klagenfurt

Everyone is talking about the high fuel prices and caused such a rush to the municipal filling station in Klagenfurt that the petrol ran out there temporarily on Wednesday morning. Diesel was still available, according to a statement from the Carinthian state capital. And on Wednesday there will be petrol again, because a tanker is already on the way. The prices at the municipal gas station are slightly lower.

In spite of this, there has not yet been any talk of a reduction in the high fuel prices in Austria. About a reduction in taxes.

Ireland cuts taxes

In view of the sharp rise in fuel prices, the Irish government has already announced a reduction in taxes on petrol and diesel. Ireland’s finance minister Paschal Donohoe said on Tuesday that the tax on petrol is to be reduced by 20 cents and on diesel by 15 cents. The measure should apply until August 31.

With a 60-litre tank, drivers can save twelve euros on a petrol engine and nine euros on a diesel vehicle. According to the information, the step will cost the government 320 million euros.
