Thanks to the current high pressure influence, Upper Austria is facing a bright sunny weekend, with almost twelve hours of sunshine per day, says Liliane Hofer from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG).
Although temperatures are already reaching double digits during the day, the morning hours remain chilly. Today, Friday, the temperatures climb from minus eight degrees to up to twelve degrees. “In the sun, twelve degrees feels almost like 15 degrees or more,” says Hofer. The only drop of bitterness: The unpleasant easterly wind with wind peaks of up to 60 km/h in the lowlands spoils the spring-like warmth.
On Saturday the easterly wind will still be blowing at up to 50 km/h, but the afternoon temperatures will still reach around twelve degrees. “Now many people are spring tired. I can only advise everyone: get out into nature and soak up as much sun as possible,” says Hofer.
Less wind from Sunday
The weather situation is similar on Sunday, when the sun can be seen in the sky for about 11 hours and 42 minutes. The east wind flattens out further and only reaches up to 30 km/h.
The coming week will also remain sunny, from Tuesday there will be occasional patches of cloud and temperatures will rise to up to 17 degrees. “The drought will still cause problems for farmers. The good thing is that plant growth and flowering are slowed down by the morning frost,” says meteorologist Hofer. (cape)
