Zelensky denounced another Russian attack on a humanitarian corridor in Mariupol

“Russian troops have not ceased fire. Still, I decided to send a convoy to Mariupol with food, water, medicines… But the occupiers launched a tank attack exactly where that corridor should have passed,” he said. Zelensky on television.

“It is assumed terror, blatant terror on the part of experienced terrorists. The whole world must know about it,” he added.

The Ukrainian leader also explained that around 100,000 people had been evacuated in the last two days from besieged cities, 40,000 of them on Thursday, through humanitarian corridors.

The Russian army maintains its siege on large Ukrainian cities and continues its bombardments, such as the one that hit a maternal and child hospital in Mariupol on Wednesday, a strategic port on the Sea of Azov that has been besieged for ten days.

Moscow promised on Thursday the daily opening of humanitarian corridors to allow civilians to flee the fighting and reach Russia. But Ukraine demands that these routes lead to its own territory and not to that of the country that is bombing its population.

There are 1,207 bodies removed from the streets of Mariupol, Deputy Mayor Serhiy Orlov told the BBC. As reported by the New York Post, the exact count of the victims is not, so far, possible: the city’s morgues are full and the bodies began to be buried in a common grave.
