Riiber took over the World Cup lead from Lamparter with the win

The Norwegian won the first of two final individual competitions in Schonach on Saturday, just ahead of the Tyrolean and is now exactly one point ahead of Lamparter. The final on Sunday will be a real showdown, the Austrian has to land in front of Riiber.

However, this will be an enormous challenge for the 20-year-old double world champion from Rum in Tirol, because Riiber won the last four races in a row in the World Cup after his Corona-related Olympic failure. The 24-year-old, who is about to win his fourth Big Crystal Globe, celebrated his 48th World Cup victory in Schonach after a jump from the normal hill and a 10 km cross-country ski run and drew level with the Finnish record holder Hannu Manninen.

Norwegian Jörgen Graabak completed the podium on Saturday. The second best Austrian was Franz-Josef Rehrl in eighth place, Lukas Greiderer took 13th place, just ahead of Mario Seidl. Even before the competition, Fabian Rießle had to miss the season finale in his home town of Schonach due to a corona infection.

In the women’s race, there was a Japanese double victory in Schonach. Anju Nakamura won 11.1 seconds ahead of Haruka Kasai, Italy’s Annika Sieff was third. In eleventh place, Lisa Hirner just missed a place in the top ten. In the end, the Styrian was 2:35.4 minutes behind Nakamura. Teammate Annalena Slamik was twelfth, directly behind Hirner. Overall World Cup winner Gyda Westvold Hansen from Norway had to give up in cross-country skiing after a fall.
