Alpine skiing: Odermatt in Kranjska Gora at halftime ahead of Schmid

After the first RTL run, the Swiss is 0.22 seconds ahead of the German Alexander Schmid and 0.30 ahead of the previous day’s winner Henrik Kristoffersen from Norway. After a mistake in the upper part, Stefan Brennsteiner put in a remarkable run and finished fifth.

The man from Salzburg, who hasn’t had a podium finish so far this World Cup winter, is 0.47 behind Odermatt. Manuel Feller (+0.93) stayed in the top ten in ninth place, Marco Schwarz (+1.95), Patrick Feurstein (+2.35) and Dominik Raschner (+2.39) are further behind. Raphael Haaser did not finish.

Eighth place or a better placement on Sunday would also give Odermatt mathematical certainty that his first overall World Cup victory can no longer be taken away from him. The giant slalom Olympic champion would thus extend the lead over Aleksander Aamodt Kilde to 301 points. The Norwegian, who is not at the start in Slovenia and, like Odermatt, does not compete in slaloms, can only win a maximum of 300 points next week at the World Cup finals in Courchevel and Meribel.

We broadcast the 2nd round via Live ticker from 12.30 p.m.
