Without alpine clubs there would be no paths in the mountains

The Vöcklabruck section of the Austrian Alpine Club with its local groups Frankenmarkt, Kammer, Neukirchen, Attergau and Vöcklamarkt currently has 4,828 members. The 110 trained tour guides offer around 250 tours per year.

“In the current time, the value of freedom in the mountains is particularly appreciated,” said chairman Willi Prehofer at the meeting. In addition to this offer, the maintenance of the paths is an important task for the voluntary helpers of the Alpine Club. “It’s the paths that bring us to our destination. Without the alpine clubs, preservation would not be possible,” adds Wegwart Sepp Lenzenweger.

Long-standing members were also honored at the 115th annual general meeting of the ÖAV section in Vöcklabruck. Chairman Willi Prehofer and his deputy Peter Hochleitner thanked Friederike Neudorfer, who has been a member of the AV for 70 years, and Grete Neubacher and Ludwig Schwarzgruber for their 60-year membership.
