The avalanche was recorded in the morning in the town of Retamas, in the province of Pataz, in the La Libertad region.

So far there are seven missing, three of which are minors, the local police informed RPP. “Four people have been rescued and we have 7 missing, 3 of them are minors,” he said.

However, as the rescue efforts have not yet started, the final figure could be higher.

The president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, informed that they will support the families affected by the landslide. “I have arranged for the head of Indeci and the Minister of Defense (José Gavidia) to go to the area affected by the landslide in the province of Pataz,” he announced on Twitter.

For his part, the Minister of Defense He explained that he is going to the emergency zone together with a rapid response team from the National Institute of Civil Defense (undecided). “We will provide all the necessary help to the affected families,” RPP reported.
