The test lane in the Weberzeile shopping center has been in operation since spring 2021 and has been put to good use ever since. Up to 1,400 people a day were tested at times of the greatest rush. The medically trained staff is provided by the Sisters of Mercy Hospital. They take swabs for rapid antigen tests.
Vaccination campaigns were also initiated there. During these campaigns, which were carried out by the Gesundes Ried association, more than 850 people received immunization.
Now that most of the corona restrictions have been lifted, the test street will cease operations on March 31 in coordination with the state of Upper Austria. “We bear responsibility for the health of the people in our region. That’s why we have provided expertise and resources for the operation of the test lane. I would like to thank all employees for their commitment, especially Margit Matheis and David Mühlecker, who are responsible for the organization goods, as well as Weberzeile for the excellent cooperation,” says hospital managing director Johann Minihuber. Center manager Christoph Vormair also emphasizes the successful cooperation and says: “Together with the Ried hospital and the Gesundes Ried association, we were able to make a small contribution to combating Covid-19, and we are very proud of that.”
