The number of hospitalized Covid patients is also increasing – more than 3,000 are in the hospitals.
Within one day, the number of Covid patients in the hospitals increased by 46 to 3,033. Of these, 221 were looked after in intensive care units (ICU) on Wednesday – two more than the day before. Within a week, the number of seriously ill ICU patients has risen by a remarkable 39 patients.

The evolution of the mortality curve is also a cause for concern. SARS-CoV-2 has claimed another 28 lives in the past 24 hours. On a seven-day average, 25.1 people die of Covid-19 every day. 176 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 15,289 lives in Austria since it broke out. 170.3 people per 100,000 inhabitants have already died from or with Covid-19.
With the new all-time record, the seven-day average for infections has risen to 44,458. The seven-day incidence is now 3,465.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
