Addictive drug for sex: police succeeded in hitting Innviertel drug scene

The Romanian and two of his accomplices have now been arrested after extensive investigations and are in custody, the police said on Wednesday. They are accused of having circulated around 1000 XTC tablets, 700 grams of amphetamine, methamphetamine and marijuana in the Braunau area in the past six months.

Waiter in scene bar

The 29-year-old was also able to prove the import of cocaine from Germany to Austria and the mediation of two cocaine deals in the amount of 1.5 kilograms in the summer of 2021.

The man, who was wanted on the basis of an arrest warrant, had hired a waiter in a trendy bar in the Innviertel under a false identity. In this environment he found his customers. He supplied guests, subdealers and work colleagues with synthetic drugs. He is said to have sold a large part of the narcotic specifically to mentally impaired, underage buyers and in return to have received sexual favors.

Dealt during quarantine

A 40-year-old Croatian and a 35-year-old Hungarian from Steyr were identified as accomplices. The drugs were ordered on the Darknet, distributed in Steyr and then sold in the Braunau district. The 40-year-old is said to have even dealt with ecstasy tablets in the vicinity of the bar during his Covid quarantine.

The three suspects were caught red-handed while getting a delivery of amphetamines and arrested. Drugs were also seized during several house searches. The men have fully confessed to the allegations. Investigations have been initiated against several buyers and subdealers, the police said.
