Vienna tightens corona measures

Visits to hospitals and care facilities will be limited from next week, Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) announced in a press conference on Thursday. In hospitals, for example, one visitor per patient and per day should be admitted. In facilities for the elderly, this should be two people per day.

Urgent wish of the hospitals

The visit limits are a reaction to the rapidly increasing burden on hospitals. Ludwig argued that the number of patients, especially in the normal wards, was increasing rapidly. The measures are also an urgent wish of the hospitals themselves. Because not only the number of patients is increasing rapidly. There are also large staff shortages due to employee illnesses.

2G in gastronomy remains

In addition to the visitor limit, the 2G Plus regulation will also be used in hospitals in the future, Ludwig announced. This means that only those who have been vaccinated and who have recovered are allowed to visit relatives. These must also show a negative PCR residue. The 2G rule will also continue to apply in gastronomy and night catering, emphasized Ludwig. FFP2 masks are still compulsory throughout the retail trade.
