The automation group STIWA based in Attnang-Puchheim is expanding its software division and is opening a location in Vienna for this purpose in April. The family company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, supplies the automotive industry as well as medical technology and mechanical engineering groups with its automation technology. The more than 2200 employees recently generated annual sales of 306 million euros.
More skilled workers in Vienna
In addition to Attnang-Puchheim, Gampern, Hagenberg, Lambach and seven international locations, Vienna is the company’s twelfth location – and the third in which software is developed. This business area currently employs 150 people and is constantly being expanded. “The demand for our software products is increasing rapidly,” says Managing Director Peter Sticht. “At the same time, the shortage of skilled workers in Upper Austria is becoming an ever greater challenge. Vienna, with its central location and good accessibility, offers many new opportunities, especially when looking for developers.”
The new location will be conveniently located in the immediate vicinity of the Technical University, with which Attnanger is already cooperating. Around 15 computer scientists will develop new STIWA software in an area of 170 square meters and in close cooperation with the company headquarters in Attnang-Puchheim.
The digitization of production systems is one of the most important topics for plant manufacturers and production companies today. With more than 25 years of experience, STIWA is a global contact for networked product and high-performance automation. The software products accompany you along the entire life cycle: from the planning of the systems to their operation and its ongoing optimization. Self-learning processes are also playing an increasingly important role. (ebra)
