After a long night, the hungry 27-year-old entered his apartment in the Rohrbach district at around 5 a.m. and decided to heat up food on the electric stove in the kitchen. Then he went into the bedroom and fell asleep there. As a result, the food burned, and parts of the kitchen equipment also began to burn. A tenant in the neighboring house became aware of the smoke and called the fire brigade.
The emergency services had to break open the apartment door and prevented worse things from happening by intervening quickly. The tenant was awakened and rescued from the smoke-filled apartment. The smoldering fire in the kitchen was extinguished and the apartment and staircase were ventilated. The tenants of the neighboring apartments were alerted, but according to the fire brigade they were only slightly or not at all in danger up to this point.
The 27-year-old is doing well and was able to return to his apartment.
