The Hully-Gully continues: At the end of a wild rollercoaster ride in the second game against TJ Sokol V, the volleyball players of VCA Amstetten bought the ticket at the cash desk for the semi-finals of the Austrian Volley League. The home win on the floor of the Johann-Pölz-Halle was the happy ending of a thriller on the net. After winning the first set, the hosts had a two-set slack. Only in the fourth set, with their backs to the wall, did the Mostviertler still manage to turn the tide when the hat was already on fire. The VCA six even had to fend off a match point from Vienna before the pendulum began to swing in the other direction. After winning the set with 27:25 points, the home side rushed ahead in the fifth decisive set with a four-point lead and served up a 15:12 after more than two hours of play. “We were lucky today,” said VCA sports director Michael Henschke, who was impressed by his team’s fighting spirit: “We certainly didn’t show our best performance, but we bit back in the game.” Opponent in the semifinals is SK Zadruga Aich/Dob.
