Aid convoy from Linz for city partners Zaporizhia

On Monday, Linz officials said goodbye to the aid convoy for their Ukrainian sister city, Zaporizhia, in front of the Old Town Hall. In one and a half weeks, municipal employees had collected 16,000 euros, and the city increased the donation to 35,000 euros.

In coordination with the partner city, those things that are most urgently needed were procured for the money. However, there was no direct contact with representatives in Zaporizhia, and video conferences failed again on Monday, said Mayor Klaus Luger (SPÖ). The contact person for Linz is the Ukrainian ambassador in Vienna, added City Councilor Michael Raml (FPÖ), who is responsible for town twinning. The aid delivery is carried out by the city’s professional fire brigade and the Upper Austrian state fire brigade command. The goods are transported to the Hungarian-Ukrainian border and handed over to a forwarding agent there.
