“We also want to help,” said those responsible at SK Amateure Steyr and, under the leadership of President Ingrid Weixlberger and youth leader Davor Farkas, launched an appeal for donations in kind for the Ukraine aid.
The echo was great. Clothing, food, children’s toys and medicines were brought to the Lauberleite by private individuals and companies. The team, led by Captain Paul Petermair, spent a whole day sorting out the goods, packing them in 60 40-litre boxes donated by the Obi company, before transporting them the next morning in small trucks provided by the Kesmer company and a bus to the Ukrainian embassy to Vienna. “We would also like to thank the Almauer company for the donated baby food and the Losenstein pharmacy for providing the medication,” says Christian Theiss, sporting director of SK Amateure.
Because the campaign went so well, it will be repeated again soon.
