“I will expel the delinquents, the criminals, those booked by the secret services, all the people we no longer love,” said the 63-year-old far-right candidate, who proposed creating a special portfolio to banish “100,000 unwanted foreigners per year.”
In addition to this measure, the controversialist – convicted twice of inciting racial hatred – said he wants to restore the “underground crime that has not existed since 2012.”
“The Ministry will have means, charters, we will make collective flights,” Zemmour specified, adding: “I will go to the Maghreb region to see with the leaders of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia how we can organize it,” according to the weekly Le Point.
A little over two weeks before the elections, the announcement of this proposal comes at a time when the far-right candidate is suffering a significant drop in the polls.
According to the latest survey by the consulting firm Elabe, published today by the Bfmtv network, Zemmour was relegated to fourth position, in which he is tied with the conservative Valérie Pécresse with 10% of the voting intentions.
Ahead are the current president and great favorite for re-election, Emmanuel Macron (27.5%), the extreme right-wing candidate Marine LePen (20%) and the leftist candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon (fifteen%).
Officially announced last November, Zemmour’s candidacy has been marked by anti-immigration and identity issues, as he is the would-be adherent of the far-right “great replacement” conspiracy theory, which sees European Judeo-Christian society being replaced by Muslim immigrants.
Zemmour, who went so far as to say that “legal and illegal immigration” would have to be curbed, defended his position on the matter again yesterday, despite being questioned by journalists.
“All my measures on immigration will be put to a referendum by the French. The identity of France is threatened by a huge population replacement. I am a candidate to stop that,” he said.
