Trade fair organizers and winegrowers have marched through foggy valleys over the past two years. The current corona situation and the ordinance passed today do not allow a clear view, but the anticipation of the first major wine fair remains undiminished.
Regardless of what the planned introduction of the FFP2 mask requirement indoors means in concrete terms, “Wein und Genuss” will take place with a comprehensive Covid prevention concept and hygiene measures: the exhibition area has been increased by more than 2000 square meters and the winegrowers’ tables have been set up with appropriate spacing .
Fair with and without a mask
“If the ordinance comes into force before the start of the wine fair, visitors must wear an FFP2 mask when entering and walking in the general area. Eating and drinking are unaffected. If the ordinance comes into force on Sunday, the fair will not be affected at all “, writes the organizer Vinaria.
Visitors can breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy the complete range. 230 winegrowers come from all Austrian wine-growing regions, including tasting winners, trophy winners, SALON and state winners.
Upper Austria’s winemaker
Local winemakers are well represented. In addition to Armin Kienesberger, who received an award from Gault&Millau with his biodynamic winery Casa Amore, there are Wolfgang Költringer from the Innviertel region (innviadla viticulture), the Velechovsky family from Leonding (Nussböckgut), the Wurm siblings from Weiling near St. Florian, the Schiefermair winery from Kematen, Father Siegfried Eder from Kremsmünster Abbey and Traunsecco with their sparkling fruit wines.
Those who want to go more in-depth are in good hands with the moderated master classes, which are taking place for the first time as part of the trade fair and in cooperation with Österreich Weinmarketing (AWM) and Wein Steiermark as well as Vinaria editor-in-chief Peter Schleimer. The topics range from top winemaker sparkling wines to world-class sweet wines.
