Allegedly injured in Ukrainian attack on Russian village

“A grenade fell in a village, people were injured. They will be given any necessary help,” wrote the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov on Wednesday on the Telegram news channel. The area is right on the border with Ukraine, around 35 kilometers north of the embattled city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine.

In the villages of Zhuravlevka and Nekhoteyevka, where there is a border crossing, a disaster was declared, Gladkov continued. The Russian state agency Tass, citing sources, reported that a house in Zhuravlevka, where two families live, had been damaged. Both Russian villages are located directly on the Ukrainian border. There was initially no confirmation of the incident from Ukraine. The information cannot be independently verified.

Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine for a month. Reports of Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory are extremely rare. Shortly after the war began, Moscow had already claimed that the Ukrainian military had launched rocket attacks at an air force base in the southern Russian region of Rostov. Several people were killed as a result.
