Season ended in a draw

In the last game in the lower playoff of the Bundesliga, the table tennis men from Askö Glas Wiesbauer Mauthausen received the Salzburg rivals from Kuchl. After the 4:2 in the first leg, the Mühlviertler counted on an increase in points in this encounter as well. Simon Oberfichtner and Bernhard Kinz-Presslmayer each won their opening singles 3-0. After that, Martin Leonhartsberger had to go to the plate against the recently very strong Thomas Ziller. After a close game it was only 2:1. The Leonhartsberger/Kinz-Presslmayer doubles increased to 3:1 before Kinz-Presslmayer failed to lead a set 2:1 against Mate Moricz and narrowly lost (11:9 in the fifth set) 2:3. Adrian Dillon made the 3:3 final score with 3:0 against Oberfichtner.

Mauthausen thus ends the season in fourth place. “In view of my injury misery, we are very satisfied with the result. Now it is important to create the conditions for a good 2022/2023 season in summer. The goal would be a place in the top two,” says captain Kinz-Presslmayer.
