LINZ. Why hasn’t LASK submitted any proof of the necessary own funds for the construction of the new arena to the state of Upper Austria? The OÖN asked the association yesterday for a statement. However, an e-mail from OÖN remained unanswered by the time this issue went to press.
The criticism that alternatives to the construction of the arena at the old Gugl location had not been examined is incomprehensible to Sports Councilor Markus Achleitner (VP). LASK examined a number of options, but the preferred location in Pichling was not feasible. That LASK needs its own modern stadium is the “basic consensus in Upper Austria”. For the SPÖ, the test report reveals the “careless handling of money in the sports department of VP state councilor Achleitner”. The many mass sports clubs should not be “the top players”, says SP club boss Michael Lindner.
The Neos demand that “the funding policy as a backroom and friendly policy of the VP must stop”. “I expect the state government to comply with transparent rules when deciding how millions of taxes are to be spent,” says Neos chairman Felix Eypeltauer. One is “almost without light on the road in the conveying fog,” says Reinhard Ammer from the Greens. A “strategic sports facility plan” is needed.
