“The effects of the war in Ukraine on the construction industry are becoming more and more visible,” said ZDB CEO Felix Pakleppa on Thursday. Delivery bottlenecks and price jumps made it impossible to calculate offers seriously, and there was a risk of short-time work and bankruptcies. The ZDB called for a round table on relief measures.
Pakleppa warned that steel deliveries, pitch and fuel were particularly affected by price increases. This makes planning construction projects more difficult, but ongoing construction work is also affected. Suppliers sometimes only sell products to construction companies at current prices, so planning construction projects is no longer possible. A coordinated approach by the construction and transport ministries is necessary.
