In this framework, the head of state again charged against his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, whom he described as a “war criminal” and called for maintaining “the unity of democracies.”

“The most important thing we can do (…) is to maintain the unity of democracies in our determination and our efforts to reduce the devastation caused by a man who I believe to be a war criminal,” he then applied during a meeting on the humanitarian situation with his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda.

“I’m here in Poland to see the humanitarian crisis firsthand, and frankly, part of my disappointment is that I can’t see it firsthand like I have in other places. They won’t let me,” Biden said.

Since the beginning of the war, Poland has received more than 2 of the 3.5 million people who fled from Ukraine.

In this regard, Biden remarked: “The suffering that is taking place now is at your doorstep. You are the ones risking, in some cases your lives…and the American people are proud to support your efforts.”

Likewise, the Polish government announced in recent hours the expulsion of 45 Russian diplomats, arguing that they work as spies for their country.

The Russian ambassador to Poland, Serguei Andreev, indicated that the expulsions “have no basis” and anticipated that Russia reserves the right to take reciprocal measures.

Along the same lines, the Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, lamented the decision that “represents another step in the worsening of relations between the two countries and warned that” of course, it will not go unanswered.
