Historic quadruple victory for Slovenia’s “Adler”

Premiere winner Ziga Jelar ahead of Peter Prevc, Anze Lanisek and Timi Zajc – Slovenia’s “Adler” left their mark on the Ski Flying World Cup finals in Planica with a quadruple home win in the first individual competition. It was only the second coup of this kind in World Cup history. The Austrians Armin Kogler, Hubert Neuper, Toni Innauer and Claus Tuchscherer triumphed in Thunder Bay in 1980.

This time things didn’t go as planned for the ÖSV athletes. Stefan Kraft, who still has a chance of winning the crystal ball in the Ski Flying World Cup, finished sixth, Manuel Fettner tenth. Michael Hayböck from Thening was 17th. “It will be very difficult against the Slovenians, they feel very comfortable on their home hill,” said Kraft. A preliminary decision has been made in the overall World Cup: Ryoyu Kobayashi (fifth yesterday) leads before the last individual competition on Sunday (10 a.m., ORF 1) by 89 points ahead of Karl Geiger (D/yesterday 12th). A 20th place is enough for the Japanese. In the Nations Cup, Austria is 255 points ahead of Germany and 294 ahead of Slovenia.
