The man came into the oncoming lane with his car and touched the car of a 61-year-old. The 77-year-old’s car then slammed into the car of a 36-year-old and then came to a standstill next to the road.
According to the police, the accident happened around 4:10 p.m. on Sauwaldstrasse (B136). The 77-year-old accident driver was trapped in the vehicle, freed by the fire brigade using rescue shears and then treated by the emergency doctor. The man was seriously injured and flown to the Passau Clinic by rescue helicopter. The 61-year-old car driver was injured and taken to the Schärding Clinic. The 36-year-old driver who was also involved in the accident was not injured.
Sauwaldstraße was closed for more than two hours for the clean-up work. In addition to the vehicles involved in the accident, the car of a 56-year-old was also damaged by flying parts.
