Drought ends from the middle of the week

As the experts from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) predicted on Sunday, it will be unstable from Wednesday. Towards the weekend, a cold front causes a drop in temperature and precipitation in large parts of Austria.

The week starts sunny again

On Monday there will initially be patches of fog locally, but these will quickly dissipate. Then the sunshine prevails. In the afternoon, a few harmless cumulus clouds form over the mountains and hills. The wind is weak to moderate mostly from the southeast to the west. Temperatures range from minus four to plus five degrees in the morning and 16 to 23 degrees in the afternoon.

In the west, the sun can only be seen briefly at the beginning on Tuesday. Overall, there are a lot of clouds here. Otherwise the sun will shine at least for a while, from noon more and more clouds will appear. A few short rain showers are possible, but mostly it stays dry. The wind will be weak to moderate from the south to north-west. The morning temperatures are between minus three and plus nine degrees, the afternoon temperatures between 15 and 22 degrees.

Clouds and intermittent rain on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the influence of the disturbance will increase from the west and south-west and overall clouds will mostly predominate, with larger sunny windows usually only appearing in the lowlands. From the beginning it is unstable in the south-west, during the course of the day the risk of showers generally increases over the mountains and hills. The wind will be weak to moderate from southwest to west. Early temperatures are between three and eight degrees, the maximum daily temperatures between eleven and 19 degrees.

Thursday: With a low pressure development over the Mediterranean, rain is expected to spread from the south and south-east to all parts of the country and it can also rain heavily, especially from Carinthia to Burgenland. There are hardly any sun windows, most likely in the morning in the west. The wind will be weak to moderate from northwest to northeast. The morning temperatures reach three to eight degrees, the maximum daily temperatures seven to 13 degrees.

With a cold front from the west and the next low pressure development over northern Italy, rain will spread again on Friday, only in the far east and south-east will it remain dry during the day. The snow line will drop significantly, especially along the north side of the Alps and in the north, to 400 to 700 meters by evening, in the south it will remain over 1,000 meters above sea level.
