Churches in Rieder call for joint prayers for peace

All the churches in Rieder are calling for a joint prayer for peace. On Wednesday, March 30th, this prayer will be held at 6 p.m. in the Roman Catholic Parish Church of Ried.

The initiators are hoping for lively participation, even if the announcement was made at relatively short notice. “Time is relatively short, but by joining forces we can set a strong sign of faith and solidarity,” says a joint statement by those responsible for all religious communities represented in Ried. The war situation also requires initiatives from the churches.

beyond church borders

The church representatives rely on cooperation here: “Believers not only lend a hand, they also fold their hands! They do it in the confidence that God will make peace possible, which seems so incredibly far away right now. They do it in the hope that the joint prayer and the many-voiced requests do not go in vain. And because we can do that easily in Ried: we do it across all denominations and churches,” as the message from the church leaders says.

Voluntary donations

In view of the situation in Ukraine, which was unimaginable until recently, it was necessary to act. The municipality is also behind this initiative. The Ried State Music School and Helge Degreif (Gospels by Elvis Presley) will provide musical accompaniment to the prayer. Voluntary donations will go to Caritas and Diakonie.

The following church representatives call for prayers for peace and hope that many people will take part: Tom Stark (Protestant Church), Rupert Niedl (Roman Catholic Church), Didi Seifriedsberger (New Apostolic Church), Martin Obermair-Siegrist (Protestant Methodist Church), Elisabeth Steinegger (Old Catholic Church), Norbert Haslinger (Free Christian Community).
