Despite resuscitation, the 46-year-old died on the spot, the Vienna police said in the evening. The background was “still completely unclear”, as a spokesman for the executive said.
Police officers from the Simmering city police command and emergency services from the Viennese professional rescue service were alerted at around 8.45 a.m. because of a seriously injured male “in a room” in a school. At first there were no clear signs of a crime, but closer inspection revealed a suspicion of murder.
Between 6:25 and 6:30 a.m., two witnesses saw a man exit through the main entrance of the educational facility. Apparently he didn’t belong to the school. The person left the school area in the direction of Muhrhoferweg. The suspect was described as slim and around 1.75 to 1.85 meters tall. He has a “juvenile gait” and was wearing a presumably dark “hoodie”. He wore the hood pulled over his head and a white (FFP2) mask.
We are looking for witnesses who have seen such a person in the vicinity of the crime scene. Police requested tips (confidential) by calling 01-31310-33110 or 01-31310-33111. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office, investigation area life/life has taken over the investigation.
