Laughter is liberating and helpful in times of crisis

Humor helps in times of crisis, and not just in the private sphere. This was the result of a representative survey by the online research institute Marketagent on behalf of the event agency Happy&Ness GmbH and LSZ GmbH, both initiators of the 1st Business Inspiration Day HumorEXPO. 1000 people between the ages of 14 and 75 were surveyed.

“When people lose their lives in war every day a few hundred kilometers away from us, it feels wrong at first glance to deal with the subject of humor,” says Thomas Schwabl, founder of Marketagent. But humor fulfills an important function, especially in difficult times: 97 percent of those surveyed believe that humor has a positive effect on health, only nine percent can imagine a life without laughter. The clear majority (65%) consider their compatriots to be humorous people. For 93 percent of those surveyed, humor is very or fairly important. Only seven percent have other priorities.

CliniClown: “Humor helps”

“As a doctor, humor expert and co-founder of CliniClowns, I know the enormous power of humor even in the worst hours of our lives,” says Roman Szeliga, humor expert and owner of the event agency Happy&Ness. Humor connects people, allows a change of perspective and is the outlet through which confidence, motivation and optimism can slip back into our souls. “I think humor should be used judiciously – we should all give ourselves permission now,” says Szeliga.
