Accused neo-Nazi rapper “Mr. Bond” confesses: “I was blinded”

“All allegations are correct,” he admitted in a prepared written statement that he read at the beginning of the trial. He pleads “fully guilty,” he said: “I realized in custody that that was wrong. I was blinded and only now do I realize the scope of my actions.”

Aside from the brief statement, which ended with the comment, “I want to apologize, I’m sorry,” the Nazi rapper didn’t provide any further information. He also did not answer any questions from the presiding judge and the public prosecutor, who in her opening speech had attested to an “extreme hatred of Jews” and “decades of indoctrination” with anti-Semitic ideas and the glorification of National Socialism.

The co-defendant younger brother of the Nazi rapper was partially confessed. He admitted to having been the administrator of a far-right, anti-Jewish website, but denied uploading any of his brother’s music to the Internet. The 34-year-old also only read a statement and then refused any further statement.

The indictment accuses “Mr. Bond” of having glorified National Socialism, Adolf Hitler and the mass extermination in the Third Reich with his music and videos. He had gained notoriety in the relevant scene by rewriting popular hits and distributing the new versions via the Internet or releasing them on five CDs in 2019. Several plays, including three in German, were played in the large courtroom of the Vienna Regional Court to give the jury an impression of the attitude of the 37-year-old, which he – at least according to his account – lost after 14 months in custody.

Born in Lienz, he also distributed a video with which he paid tribute to the Christchurch attacker in New Zealand, who killed 51 people in two mosques in March 2019. He also translated his “Manifesto” into German. In his rap songs, the man claimed the supposed supremacy of the white race. According to the indictment, the right-wing extremist violent criminal who wanted to break into a synagogue in Halle an der Saale, Germany, used one of his numbers on October 9, 2019. During the planned live stream of the failed assassination attempt on the Jewish community, the man played a work by “Mr. Bond”.

“Mr. Bond” could be traced through his PayPal account, through which he had processed incoming payments for his music. He was arrested in Vienna in January 2021. Since then, he has received fan letters from right-wing extremists from all over the world, including Canada and the USA, in his cell. Donations and declarations of support were collected in relevant forums. A few months ago, a flag with the words “Free Mr. Bond” was even affixed to the facade of a house opposite the regional court.
