In the past few days you could already enjoy one or the other foretaste of the warm season. With spring and summer the signs are clear, even if the cold will set in again in the next few days.
Irrespective of this, preparations for the commissioning of the 80 drinking water fountains in Linz have been underway since the beginning of this week. They are rinsed “summer fit”, as the saying goes. This intensive flushing is necessary so that cool and clear water runs out of the well when it is time.
The water is already running at the fountain, which should not surprise the population, as city councilor Eva Schobesberger says. It is about important preparatory work on the fountains and there are also appropriate instructions attached to the drinking fountains during the rinsing processes.
In Linz there are 73 signposted drinking fountains and seven ornamental fountains with drinking water quality for free refreshment and cooling. They are mainly to be found in playgrounds, parks and markets, for example on the main square by the large flower bed, on Landhausplatz, at Steinmetzplatzl in Alturfahr or at the playground on the dam on the banks of the Danube in Urfahr.
Decorative fountains, which are suitable for drinking water, provide refreshment at the Südbahnhofmarkt, in front of the Cafe Traxlmayr on the promenade or on the Spittelwiese. The public drinking facilities are open until autumn.
