Beinschab applied for leniency

This is reported by “Kurier” and “Presse” online. According to “Presse”, the economic and corruption prosecutor’s office has already made its decision and is now coordinating it with the senior public prosecutor’s office in Vienna because it is a reportable act. After that, the decision has to be submitted to the legal protection officer Gabriele Aicher – who could also determine that the status is not granted or that the applicant should be investigated further.

The justification given in the application is that the accused had already “made a remorseful confession” during her interrogation and “voluntarily disclosed new facts and evidence as an outward sign of a departure from her own criminal behavior or the environment”. In addition, Beinschab answered questions for a total of 65 hours on eight interrogation appointments.

The leniency program is actually only intended for people whose investigations are still in their infancy. In addition, according to the “Kurier”, the incriminating facts about which she testified – such as illegal price agreements or commission statements – are also stored on Sophie Karmasin’s laptop or mobile phone.

The ex-ÖVP Family Minister Karmasin was in custody for almost a month because of the incriminating statements of her former friend and business partner, she was only released yesterday, Monday. The Vienna Higher Regional Court upheld her complaint, but regarded the suspicion as given, including the risk of commission of the crime, with which the WKStA had justified the pre-trial detention.

In the advertisement scandal, the WKStA is investigating the pollsters, ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and those around him, and the daily newspaper “Österreich”. The presumption of innocence applies to everyone.
