The home win against GAK raises hopes in the SK BMD Forward Steyr camp that they can finally turn the tide for the better this season. Tonight, at 6:30 p.m., coach Daniel Madlener’s team has the chance to add three points.
With the Young Violets, a direct competitor in the relegation battle of the second division comes to Volksstraße. With 18 points, the Viennese are currently ranked 14th and thus the first non-relegation zone. A win would take the Reds and Whites out of the relegation zone. “We want to continue the performance from the GAK game,” says Madlener, who is also aware that the task against the second team of Wiener Austria will not be easy: “They are a good, fast, dynamic team.” With the same attitude and conviction as against the GAK, however, three points should be feasible.
His team did a good job during the two weeks of training during the international break. “I can see that the development is going in the right direction step by step,” says the trainer, who has worked intensively with his players tactically, physically and mentally.
In terms of personnel, Madlener can almost draw on unlimited resources against the Young Violets. Paul Sahanek and Alberto Prada return after their suspensions. The sick Michael Halbartschlager falls out. “We’ll basically play with the same line-up as against GAK,” says the coach, who didn’t want to commit himself completely before the final training session yesterday.
