The 49-year-old from the Rohrbach district drove around seven in the morning on the B127 in the direction of Linz. Even before the Kleinzeller crossing, the 49-year-old brushed against two vehicles while overtaking recklessly. Some of these were severely damaged.
At the Kleinzeller crossing, the man then tried to overtake the car in front of him from a 28-year-old from the Rohrbach district. However, he may have touched the woman’s car on the left rear and wanted to get back behind it.

28-year-old trapped in wreckage
The vehicle of the 49-year-old came left the roadway, hit a street lamp and several traffic signs and spun over an embankment into a meadow. The 28-year-old’s car skidded, turned about 180 degrees and slid into the oncoming lane. There the woman’s car hit the rear of an oncoming bus, driven by a 40-year-old from Linz. The impact was so severe that the rear of the car was crushed to the middle of the car.
The 28-year-old was trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries. The team of a rescue team that happened to be passing by, together with other helpers, provided first aid.
The driver’s door was violently torn open and the driver was freed. After the first aid, she was flown to the Kepler University Hospital in a rescue helicopter. The 40-year-old bus driver was injured to an unspecified degree and taken to the accident hospital in Linz.
Driver denied involvement in the accident
The 49-year-old initially denied involvement in the accident. He stated that he had avoided the skidding car of the 28-year-old and thus left the road. When securing evidence on the vehicle of the 49-year-old, however, a direct connection could be proven. A small part of the rear light of the 28-year-old’s car was stuck in the door fold of the 49-year-old’s car.
