At least 35 ambulances traveled to the scene, where officials from the Attorney General’s Office, the Ministry of Emergencies, the Ministry of the Interior and other agencies continue to work.
The place is a nightclub in the city of Baku and it happened around 3 am (local time). The premises are located on Tarlan Aliyarbeyov Street in the capital city of Azerbaijan, and investigators presume that the explosion was caused by a leak of gas.
“One person – Maya Ajundova, a 43-year-old employee of this establishment – died,” the prosecutor’s office said, quoted by the Russian public news agency RIA Novosti. Medical sources cited by the agency mentioned that among the injured there is an Italian and a Senegalese.
From the country’s Attorney General’s Office they detailed that, according to preliminary data, the incident resulted in one death and 41 injuries. It is reported that most of those affected by the explosion suffered burns of varying degrees and were taken to local health centers.
