OÖN wine show: Double victory for the Stift Göttweig winery

OÖN wine show: Double victory for the Stift Göttweig winery

The first tastings start at the beginning of spring. The OÖN wine show is actually always in season and takes place four times a year. Only the past seven months had to be paused due to corona. The joy was all the greater that the doldrums ended in the restaurant “Das Attersee” on the Attersee.

The first guests trundled in with great expectation an hour before the start, thanks to the restaurant run by Michaela Prem and Kilian Angermeyer. But also the topic of the current wine show: tasting of St. Laurent and Pinot Noir.

Unfortunately drunk

The rules remained unchanged. 100 guests blindly tasted twelve bottles each from 18 wineries from all over Austria. The wine that is drunk first is considered the winner because it seems to taste the best. This time the guests were happy about an additional service. They were served the wines.

Before the wine show, the sommeliers Michaela Prem, Marcel Mauthner, Reinhold Baumschlager, Hans Stoll and Philipp Braun also tasted the wines secretly and judged them according to the 20-point system. The rating of the audience and the sommeliers will be compared at the end of the event. Similar taste preferences are becoming more and more common.

This time, the sommeliers and the guests preferred the Pinot Noir Göttweiger Berg from the Stift Göttweig winery and chose it as their favorite wine of the evening. Pinot Noir was generally particularly well received by the public. Only Pinot Noir made it into the top five: Anton Bauer came second ahead of the Graf Hardegg and Dürnberg wineries. Philipp Grassl achieved fifth place.

The sommeliers chose two St. Laurents in their top five: second place went to Malat with a St. Laurent, third was Grassl, fourth was Graf Hardegg, and fifth place was again taken by a St. Laurent, namely the wine from Klosterneuburg Abbey.
