New leadership in the Linz City Culture Advisory Board

New leadership in the Linz City Culture Advisory Board

The Linz City Culture Advisory Board was set up 21 years ago to provide advice on artistic and cultural policy issues. Since the beginning of the week there has been a new team of three at the top. Serbest, Managing Director of Fiftitu%, the network center for female artists and cultural workers, is supported by Phillip “Flip” Kroll, known as the musician of Texta, and visual artist and art educator Renate Moran as deputies.

The new advisory board – it consists of a maximum of 24 members, made up of twelve women and twelve men – will be challenged in the new four-year term of office, among other things, in the further development of the cultural development plan. This is a key project.

In principle, the City Culture Advisory Board should be a platform to conduct a constant discourse on cultural development in Linz and to initiate continuous further development and adaptation to the requirements of contemporary cultural work. When it comes to composition, it should be ensured that one representative from each of the areas of architecture and urban design, fine arts and interdisciplinary art forms, music and performing arts (dance, theatre, cabaret), design, media art, literature and cultural journalism is represented on the committee .

The Greens, who nominated Serbest among others, are pleased with the election of the new chairmen. With her, an experienced cultural worker and artist from the independent scene has again come to the fore.
