“Kiste” is the new abbreviation for “Kultur im Stefansplatzerl” and is therefore the abbreviation for the new cultural association, which is hosting the first event on April 29th. A team of committed people from the community has set itself the goal of enlivening the Stefansplatzerl with cultural events with the “kiste”. Six concerts per year are planned for the time being, spread over autumn and spring, of which the established open air on the second weekend in July in the town square should form the annual conclusion. One would like to concentrate on (Austrian) folk music on the one hand, but also on “New Folk Music” in all its diverse varieties on the other. In addition, there should also be space for art exhibitions, readings, lectures and film evenings, which will be added in the coming years.
The Haslach artist Markus Hofer acts as the curator of the art exhibitions. He has already left his footprint in the community and helped shape the renovated parish church with his sculptural works. However, the first “kiste” event in Stefansplatzerl is of a musical nature: on April 29, the Hermann singing band will be performing the first concert of the cultural association. She has set out to make the world a happier place with her bewitching dialect singing. More than 200 concerts in the past few years bear witness to a thirst for adventure and a good dose of pioneering spirit. Anyone expecting a highly polished show peppered with thigh slapping will probably be disappointed. The not at all harmless lyrics are warbled with almost proudly carried shyness and no one is spared.
Tickets for the concert on April 29 at 8:15 p.m. are available for 24 or 14 euros at kiste.stefansplatzerl@gmail.com
