What do we do with the kids at the weekend? Like many parents, Roland Bamberger from Salzburg and his wife Svenja have asked themselves this question again and again. The constant search for family fun and adventure led the couple to set up a search portal in 2018. They provide inspiration at family excursion.info. From climbing gardens, amusement parks and museums to fairytale forests: On the homepage, enterprising families will find a wide variety of leisure activities – throughout Austria.
Games and fun – from the Bohemian Forest to Hallstatt
Just in time for the Easter holidays, the portal chose the most popular excursion destinations based on around 6.5 million ratings on Google, Facebook & Co. First place in Upper Austria went to the Bohemian Forest Park in Ulrichsberg. Children, parents and grandparents can spend an “active” day together on a total outdoor area of 77 hectares. Various games and sports are offered for the whole family.
An Innviertler attraction made it into second place: the Treetop path in Kopfing extends over a length of more than 1000 meters and up to 15 meters above the forest floor. It is an impressive wooden construction through the forest tops of the Sauwald – a worthwhile family destination!
That too Obra children’s area in Hausruckwald (Neukirchen an der Vöckla) got hold of a place on the podium. There is a mysterious knight’s castle, a winding farm, a spooky mine, a mysterious stream of money launderers or a jungle to discover.
At the top of the popularity scale are also the Cumberland wildlife park in Grünauwhich offers an insight into the world of native wild animals on around 60 hectares, as well as the 3D archery course in Bad Zell including cinema and inn. Those are a classic Salt Worlds in Hallstatt (Sixth place in the ranking). They invite you to a journey through 7000 years of salt mining. In the top ten of Upper Austria’s excursion destinations in 2022 are also the Animal park in Altenfelden, the Ikuna nature adventure park in Natternbach, the Wunderkammer des Brotes (Paneum) in Asten and the archery center in Kirchschlag near Linz.
