“The topic of saving energy has never been as big as it is now – and that means that the energy saving trade fair is more relevant than ever,” says Wels trade fair director Robert Schneider. And smiles. After all, the Webuild energy saving trade fair in Wels can take place again this year for the first time since March 2020, exactly from Friday, April 8th to Sunday, April 10th (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). 250 exhibitors will present their innovations, around two thirds fewer than in the pre-Corona times.
“But the demand is there,” Schneider knows even before the start. Because the exhibitors also have their own online presence with the Digital+ offer at the trade fair. “And even before the start of the trade visitor days, which are on Wednesday and Thursday, 21,213 visitors have already obtained information,” says Director Schneider.
He adds: “The need for information, especially when it comes to alternative types of heating, is enormous.” In view of the recent extreme rise in gas and electricity prices, this is also a central point of the trade fair. How should you convert your own house or apartment? “That depends on the local conditions – and on what you want,” says Michael Mates, national guild master of plumbers. Specifically, he explains that individual solutions – be it a photovoltaic system, heat pump or even a pellet heating system – rarely bring the desired result. Hybrid solutions would often make more sense, “however, unfortunately, they are often not funded,” says Michael Mattes.
Speaking of pellets: Ernst Hutterer, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Boiler Suppliers, considers them to be a variant worth considering, even though the prices for a tonne have risen by 150 euros to around 420 euros in the last six months.
Whichever variant you choose, patience is required in any case. Because the waiting times until a new system can be installed lasts around three to six months due to extended delivery times and personnel concerns among the installers (there are 6,500 companies in Austria that made sales of around 5.6 billion euros in 2021).
The energy saving fair in Wels is all the more important, because visitors can get expert advice on providers, costs and any subsidies.
